Aweomesauce: Recipe For Happiness

Instead of getting up at the regular time of 6:15am, I got up, turned off my alarm, unplugged my phone, took the phone and got back under the covers. I dosed back to sleep. No problem. At around 7 something, I decided I wanted to watch more of TV show The Office on Netflix. So I watched two episodes before deciding I was going to hold off on running until later.

Well, I’m glad I did.

On my way to Starbucks–for my morning iced chai and croissant (I should really try switching to something healthier!)–I felt my left leg stiffen. My left leg was cramping–upper thigh and calve! It was then I realized how much salsa works the body.

I really enjoy salsa and have met some really great people from going to lessons. Yesterday was only my third time salsa-ing! Later on after work, I plan on going to a happy hour, part of a Meetup event. Should be fun. Maybe I’ll run, but if not, I definitely will have to tomorrow.

I’ve noticed I really like having a place to be at night. I mean it doesn’t make sense to just hangout at home from 5 to 10pm, unless I really need the rest. Instead, it makes sense to enjoy myself the best way I know how–having an awesome time, meeting awesome people and eating awesome food.

That my friends,  is what I like to call Awesomesauce.

Stay tuned for more, later!

44:20 Run

What a peaceful run this morning. It was like everything was so calm. I didn’t start too strong and kept my pace. When the sun emerged, I tried really hard to hide from it (no sunscreen today–I forgot).

Anyway, I’m really proud of myself. Today, I ran the most miles I’ve run since I started up again! It feels awesome!

Later, I have to make some decisions about staying home or going abroad. I’m so relaxed and feel as though I could take anything head on.

AWE YEAH!

Running Stats: 44:20 run, 11:16 pace, 3.93 miles

18:51 Run

I went out salsa dancing yesterday and didn’t get home until 11 something. This morning, I was exhausted, but I decided to suck it up and go out for a run. I knew it would make me feel better and so far, so great!

Day 3 of consecutive running…Two more days and I’ve completed this week’s goal! :)

I didn’t Map My Run this time, but I know I ran at least 1.2 miles around my neighborhood. Next time: No long sleeve top– even if it is 61 and feels chilly. The body will warm up quick!

37:35 Run

It felt so awesome to have so much TIME on my hands after my run this morning. I didn’t have the energy to run an out and back, but am steadily and slowly building my way there. I downloaded a Map My Run app on my phone, as I rode the bus home, but quickly realized that I couldn’t just map my run like I wanted. I also had to log in. Back to the computer, after work.

***

Gosh darn it, I still have to log in! I remember when I could cancel out the sign up and was able to use it for free. Or perhaps it’s Google Chrome that doesn’t make it an option. So, I’ll switch to  Internet Explorer.

And.. it works!

Eureka! [Eureka's Castle, omg, Face!] I can now tell you all how many miles I ran today. I’m sure it was about 2.5 already, but I’m a slow poke, so I really won’t know until I punch in the numbers.

Map My Run says: 2.65 miles ran! Woo hoo!

Run Stats:

2.65 miles, 14:10 pace (SLOW POKE! But all that matters is that I’m being consistent! Day 2, HOO RAH!), 37:35 run

Cool! :)

Hot n Humid: 21:17 Run

Last Monday: 40:29

Last Tuesday: 23:53

Last Wednesday: 46:33

Today 4/16: 21:17, already 78F! I was really tired so I slowed down. It’s so important to hydrate while on a run. I mean look what I was left with at only 21 minutes:

Image

Not much! Most importantly, you might want to run through water or rub water on yourself while out there in the heat. It’s only going to get better once you’ve braved it a couple of times. It’s also really great if you manage to just run less. I know–my goal is an hour a day, but maybe 40 minutes in humid/hot conditions is better than a 60 minute run when I’ve totally run out of fuel! And that’s no fun!

Well note to self: GET UP AT 6:15AM! Slather on sun screen and go! It WILL make a difference!

Running Goals For This Week: Run 4 more days for at least 40-45 minutes each!

Saturday: Cherry Blossom Festival And Nationals Baseball Game

I went to a Meetup with the 20s/30s Fun Asians yesterday. While going in, a nice couple offered me their ticket because their son didn’t show up. So, my $5 fee was waived! I offered to pay them back, but they said no. So nice!

I had funnel cake  before meeting up with everyone at this years Cherry Blossom Festival or Sakura Matsuri. I pretty much hungout with the ladies and we walked around took pictures–pictures of of people in costumes, ourselves in really cute animal onesies and anything that struck our eye. It was a lot of fun.

Here are my photos from that:

Following the street fest, I then met up with my dad and my god brother Nathaniel. We  went to a Nationals baseball game, where we played the Cincinnati Reds.  We won 4 to 1! GO Nats! While there we also met up with my god mother, Courtney and my god brother, Cooper and my god father Russell. It was also fun–I even took this video of the wave, right after my dad mentioned it was NOT a football game…Apparently, the wave also invites itself to other sports events too!

Meetup Event at Lost Society

On Thursday, I went to Lost Society for a charity happy hour. My friend Julie happened to be in town too, so she came with me. Though her visit was short, we managed to catch up a little and take this awesome photo:

Julie and me! :D

I had a really great time: I chatted with three people I knew, met some cool people, funny people, geeky people, and one person who seemed like they didn’t want to be there…

Overall, it was a great experience. I’m really interested in being an event organizer. It’s such a great way to meet new people and try new things!

I recommend Meetup 100%!
